Fun Spring Activities for kids

It’s time to get out of the house and away from computer screens with activities for kids this Spring. Let’s enjoy some activities that promote creativity, joy, and wonder.

If you don’t know what activities to do with your child, here are ten things you must do this month:

1. Go on a nature hunt.

Use this free printable list of nature objects to record all the animals and plants you see in the springtime. What does your child like best? Is it seeing bugs in their natural habitat or listening to bird songs? Point out how the grass is green again after a long winter and describe how trees blossom in springtime. Make it a game where they collect things along the way, such as a pretty rock, a feather, or a flower.

2. Make a bird feeder hang outside your window.

All you need is an empty milk carton, peanut butter, birdseed, and something sweet, such as chocolate chips or candy drops for the birds to peck at while they eat the seeds from inside of the milk carton. Then, get out some paints and make it colorful!

3. Try this spring science experiment with your kids.

Mix water with food coloring in a ziplock bag and place one raw egg inside the sealed bag. Which color egg cracks open first? Time how long each egg takes before it starts to crack open and determine which took longer to start changing: red, green, yellow, or blue eggs.

5. If you can find the time, try making a mini veggie garden in a few small pots.

Plant seeds and keep them watered until they sprout to show your little one what happens when you plant them!

Are you looking for ways to become a peaceful mom but you aren’t sure how?

I created a free planner for moms like me, who want to create a peaceful home but let the stress of never having it all together defeat them, because who really ever has it together? The best we can do is plan for peace and roll with the punches, right? If you want your free planner you can get it below!

Many times kids are stuck in their houses during the winter. Now that Spring is around the corner, try getting out and visiting a different place to change scenery. Even the library will be a good change of pace!

7. Try splatter painting outside!

Just set up a large sheet of paper in an area where you don’t mind getting paint. Give your child paint and brushes. Then let them loose! Their creation will be just as fun to see as it was to make.

8. Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in March!

Let your little leprechauns dress up in green clothes and go out for ice cream while they search street corners for gold coins left by the lucky Leprechaun himself! If you don’t celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, there are plenty of activities just about everywhere celebrating Easter.

9. Make homemade play dough

! All you need is flour, salt, cream of tartar, and some vegetable oil (or water). Mix them all up and watch as the play dough comes alive like magic! You can also use food coloring to make fun colors. (Be careful, it can be messy!)

10. Get outside with bubbles.

Little ones can make bubble snakes, giant bubbles, or even their bubble wands, while older kids may enjoy making up new games with rules involving blowing bubbles.

11. Finally, if you’re feeling daring and know your child will go crazy over the idea, try messy activities!

Things like shaving cream art or homemade slime are enjoyable, but they get everywhere, so be prepared before you start playing.
