Simple Easter Peep Experiment

Simple Easter Peep Experiment

Please Share With Your Friends!

Are you looking for a fun experiment to do with your children this Spring? This Easter peep experiment is just the right one!

Easter is right around the corner. This means Peeps are everywhere!

Okay, I’m not a huge fun of eating Peeps (my kids are) BUT experimenting with them? That is something I can definitely get behind!

If you want to try this easy but fun activity with your kids, here are the list of ingredients we used!

  • Peeps (variety of colors, or all the same, up to you!)
  • plastic cups, see through is our favorite. You can use what you have on hand though.
  • a plate and fork
  • vinegar
  • mouth wash
  • water
  • vegetable oil
  • Gatorade
  • Citrus Drop or any soda

You can use whatever you have on hand. I grabbed a few different liquids that I thought would be fun to experiment with.

You can watch the video below to see how we did our experiment!

This is experiment is a great time to teach your children what an hypothesis is.

I had the girls tell me what they think would happen with each liquid and peep. There hypothesis was “the peeps will get bubbly.”

First step: Gather your ingredients

Like I stated before, you can use whatever you have on hand. Here is what we used.

Second Step: Put your peeps in their on separate cups.

We used six cups, feel free to do as little or as many cups and peeps as you would like!

Third Step: Pour the liquid in.

The girls loved doing each step!

Fourth Step: Wait 15-20 minutes and observe what happens.

Fifth Step: Take each peep out and squish with your fingers or fork!

That is it!

It was interesting to see which liquid caused the peep to lose it’s color, which liquid kept the peep in tact, and everything in between.

But don’t take my word for it, start experimenting 🙂
