Being a stay-at-home mom on a budget can be difficult, but it’s not impossible!

In this blog post, we will discuss some tips and tricks that will help you save money while on a budget. We’ll cover everything from reducing your grocery bill to getting freebies and discounts at your favorite stores.

So whether you’re just starting as a SAHM or you’ve been doing it for a while, read on for some helpful advice!

Being a stay-at-home can be a privilege and extremely difficult at the same time.

Why? Because your income may be significantly reduced. This can lead to stress, especially in today’s society and economy. However, being a stay-at-home mom is not impossible with a little bit of creativity!

One way to save money as a stay-at-home mom is by cooking in bulk. This means making larger meals that will last a few days or even freezing some for later.

Not only will this save you time in the kitchen, but it will also save you money on your grocery bill. Another great tip is to buy groceries in bulk when they are on sale.

This can be anything from non-perishable items like canned goods to fresh produce you know your family will eat.

You can also take advantage of apps and websites that offer discounts.

I wrote an in-depth article about getting started shopping at Aldi. You can read it here. In it, I share some of my favorite apps to receive discounts!

What grocery items should you buy to cook in bulk?

-Canned goods: These are great for making quick and easy meals. They have a long shelf life, so you can stock up when they’re on sale.

-Frozen fruits and vegetables are perfect for smoothies, soups, and stews. They’re also a great way to get your daily servings of fruits and veggies without spending a lot of money on fresh produce.

-Dry beans and rice: These staples are very versatile and can be used in various dishes. They’re also relatively inexpensive, so they’re great for budget-minded cooks.

-Ground beef: Ground beef is perfect for bulk cooking because it’s affordable and easy to use in various recipes. Plus, it freezes well, so you can cook it in advance and thaw it as needed.

Now that we’ve covered some tips for saving money on groceries, let’s talk about getting freebies and discounts at your favorite stores.

One great way to do this is by signing up for store loyalty programs.

This way, you’ll earn points every time you make a purchase which can be redeemed for discounts or free items.

You can also stay up-to-date on the latest sales and promotions by following your favorite stores on social media or subscribing to their email lists. And finally, don’t forget to take advantage of coupons!

Whether you’re using paper coupons or digital ones, they can help you save significant money on your purchases.

What are the different types of apps that can help you save on groceries and other items?

-Grocery store loyalty programs: These apps allow you to earn points every time you make a purchase, which can be redeemed for discounts or free items.

-Coupon apps: These apps offer digital coupons that can be redeemed at your favorite stores.

-Sales and promotions: Many stores offer sales and promotions through their websites or social media channels. By staying up-to-date on these, you can save money on your purchases.

Now that we’ve covered some tips for saving money as a stay-at-home mom let’s talk about how to make extra income. One great way to do this is by finding remote jobs you can do from home. This can be anything from freelance writing to being a virtual assistant. Several websites can help you find remote jobs, such as Upwork, Fiverr, and FlexJobs. Another great way to make extra income is to start a blog or an online business. Again, this can be simple: starting a blog about your favorite hobby or creating an online store to sell products you make yourself.

If you are interested in starting your own blog I give simple tips on getting started in this blog post.

Another excellent tip for stay-at-home moms is to use hand-me-down clothing for your children.

This is a great way to save money, as you likely won’t need to buy new clothes often.

You can also sell items your children have outgrown or no longer use, like clothes, toys, and equipment. This is a great way to make some extra income!

Where can you cut corners if your budget is tight?

-Eating out: If you’re on a tight budget, eating out can be a luxury you can’t afford. Instead, focus on cooking at home using inexpensive ingredients.

-Entertainment: Cut back on expensive entertainment like going to the movies or going out to bars and clubs. Instead, stay in and borrow a movie from the library or find something free on TV or have friends over for a game night.

-Clothing: Don’t buy new clothes every season. Instead, shop at thrift stores or consignment shops for gently used clothing.

-get rid of cable. Several cheaper alternatives to cable TV will still allow you to watch your favorite shows.

-Lower your cell phone bill. There are many ways to do this, such as switching to a cheaper cell phone plan or removing your data plan altogether.

-Walk as many places as you can or buy a bike.

-Find free activities for your kids to do.

-Check with your local library for free events and activities.

-Make your own cleaning supplies.

-Stop buying coffee every day.

-Bring your lunch to work or school.

As a stay-at-home mom, it’s essential to be mindful of your budget. Following simple tips and tricks, you can save money on groceries, entertainment, clothing, and more.

Additionally, there are some ways to make extra income if your budget is tight. And finally, don’t forget to take advantage of coupons! By using coupons, you can save a significant amount of money on your purchases. Thanks for reading! I hope this was helpful! 🙂
