“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Today started off …
When my son passed away there were many well-meaning comments given to me that just rubbed me the wrong way. I know that most of these comments are meant for good. But I think that most grieving parents can come up with their own list of phrases not to say to a grieving parent.
1 in 4 women suffer child loss. It is vital to keep the memories alive of these precious babies. The child loss community is making great strides in breaking down barriers and preconceived notions about child death. It will only be when bereaved families can feel heard and their children acknowledged that we know our job is done.
There was a language barrier between the other bereaved family and my family. After the ceremony was over and we were reflecting on the candles we had lit in honor of our babies, I went over to hug the other lady. I shook her husband’s hand and told them who I was. I then leaned in to hug her. I wanted so badly to talk to her, but we couldn’t communicate without a translator.
A letter to the friend who left me after my son died.
