Kids are not in control of anything, if you truly think about it. They are absolutely at the mercy of the adults in their lives. Yes, some parents give their children choices, like the snacks they eat, what activity they take part in, etc. Like we do. However, in the bigger picture, children are at the liberty of the adults in their lives. If you have a child who already feels like they have no control over anything, plus they have no sense of routine in their lives, you will have yourself a recipe for disaster.
You will have to learn to live life in a whole different way. This may seem difficult but it is possible. Be gentle with yourself. Allow other people to take care of you. Give yourself time to grieve and remember self- care is an important step in your grief. Life may not look like you thought it would, but you more than survive this. You can live again.
Child loss is taboo in today’s society. As advanced as we are, as much as we want to embrace every aspect of life, there are just some things that are still off limits. Child death is one of them.
A letter to the friend who left me after my son died.
You have your hands full.
If you are a parent or a caregiver, chances are you have heard this phrase a time or two. It seems if you have more than two children in your care, then your hands are automatically deemed full.
This phrase doesn’t bother me. I actually take it as a compliment.
My hands are full.
