Good Friday for Kids: A Guide to Easter’s Most Important Day

Please Share With Your Friends!

Good Friday is one of the most significant days in the Christian faith.

It is the day that Jesus was crucified on the cross. Unfortunately, many people don’t know how to explain Good Friday to kids, so we have together this guide to help you! This post will discuss what Good Friday is, why it is essential, and how to teach your children about it.

Good Friday is the day that Jesus was crucified on the cross.

The Bible tells us that Jesus died for our sins and that he rose from the dead three days later. This is called the Easter story, and it is one of the most paramount stories in Christianity.

Good Friday is an important day because it shows us how much God loves us.

Jesus died on the cross so we could be forgiven for our sins. He paid the most significant price so that we could have a relationship with God. We can’t earn this forgiveness by doing good things; it is a gift from God.

You can teach your children Good Friday by telling them the Easter story. You can also help them understand why Good Friday is so important by asking them questions about what it means for their lives today.

Good Friday is an important day to remember because we know that Jesus died on Good Friday and rose from the dead three days later!

Are you looking for ways to become a peaceful mom but you aren’t sure how?

I created a free planner for moms like me, who want to create a peaceful home but let the stress of never having it all together defeat them, because who really ever has it together? The best we can do is plan for peace and roll with the punches, right? If you want your free planner you can get it below!

Here are five simple ways that can help you explain what Good Friday is and why you observe it.

Good Friday is when Christians remember Jesus’ death on the cross.

How can you explain this day to young children?

Start by explaining why God sent Jesus to earth.

Clarify that Jesus came to rescue us from sin, which means he died for our sins and rose again on Easter Sunday. This is is a day of remembrance because it reminds us that God loves us so much He sent His only son down here as an atoning sacrifice!

Draw a correlation between Christmas and Easter.

For Easter to take place, Jesus had to die on the cross. Just as we celebrate Christmas because Jesus was born, we observe Good Friday remember Jesus’ death. Both events are essential in remembering Christ’s sacrifice for us.

Use visuals in the form of crafts or activities to demonstrate the meaning of Good Friday.

One way to do this is by having children make Good Friday crosses. Another idea is to have a Good Friday scavenger hunt where kids look for things related to Jesus’ death and resurrection. Talk about what Good Friday means to you personally.

For example, “Good Friday is special because I know that Jesus died for my sins, he saved me when I was at my lowest (if they are old enough to understand, start telling them your story of salvation).” This gives kids an idea of why Good Friday and its meaning resonate with those who love God and why we remember this day every year.

Use scripture references to explain to your children how much God loves them.

Good Friday is a day we remember how much God loves us. We know this because Jesus died on the cross for our sins. John 15:13 says, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”

Kid-friendly Good Friday Bible Verses

“But God demonstrates His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

“But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds, we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5

“All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and the law will judge all who sin under the law. For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous before God, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous.” Romans 2:12

Why is Good Friday Is Good?

Talk to your children about why Good Friday is important. Why do we observe Good Friday every year? Good Friday is special because Jesus died for our sins on the cross so that we can have a relationship with God! Describe how this shows us how much He loves each of us personally.
