Are you looking for an easy and fun paper plate snake craft to do with your kid today?

My kids love to do simple and fun paper plate crafts. I love them to because they are easy and I typically have the materials on hand! This adorable paper plate snake craft was a hit with my kids!

When I was a little girl, we lived out in a farm house in the country. I am not sure how old I was, probably 7 or 8 but I remember watching a Saturday morning cartoon one day. There was a snake on it, I wasn’t a huge fan of snakes (I’m still not!)

My mom was making pancakes and then I heard her say “there’s a snake in our yard!” In my memories it was my mom who said it, it very well could’ve been my brothers or dad.

My dad went into the yard and killed the snake. I’m not sure why I remember this, but I did think it was really weird that I was watching a snake show and there was a snake in our yard. Ha. I didn’t quite understand coincidences.

Create this fun nature wind chime with your kids this weekend!

But back to today’s craft!

Whether your kid dislikes snakes or not, they will probably enjoy creating the slithering creature out of a simple paper plate!

Materials need:

  • a paper plate
  • paint
  • red construction paper
  • googly eyes
  • white glue or glue stick
  • scissors

How to create this fun snake!

  • Paint the paper plate! I painted mine blue, but the girls decided to make their snakes rainbow snakes.
  • Allow the paper plate to dry.

  • Cut the paper plate into the snake’s body. I did this by starting at the head and cutting all the way into the middle of the plate in a circle.
  • Add the googly eyes, mouth and red tongue!
