15 Tips to Reduce Your Stress As A Mom

Please Share With Your Friends!

You know what stress is.

It’s that feeling of being overwhelmed by the tasks in front of you and not knowing where to start or how to finish them all. When stress levels get too high, it can affect your work performance, family life, relationships with friends, and even physical health. But there are so many things you can do to reduce stress! This post will cover 15 tips for reducing stress in our family lives – some things you may have never thought about before!

Before we get to the 15 tips, I want to talk about the importance of reducing our stress level both for ourselves and for our families. It’s not always easy to do, but it is so worth it!

When our stress levels are high, we stress out on the people around us.

And that’s not fair to them. But, unfortunately, it can also lead to some pretty big blow-ups and arguments.

If you are looking for tips and ideas on creating a more peaceful home life for your family and yourself, I suggest you first look inward and reduce your stress level. It will make a world of difference!

Now, on to the tips!

Tip #15: Get organized.

This one may seem like a no-brainer, but it does work! When our environment is cluttered and chaotic, it only increases our stress level. So take some time each day (or week) to organize your home and workspace. It will help you feel more in control and less overwhelmed.

Tip #14: Take breaks throughout the day.

People often think they need to power through and get everything done as quickly as possible. But that’s not healthy or realistic. Instead, take short breaks throughout the day – even just five minutes – to relax and rejuvenate yourself. Use that time to destress, have a cup of coffee or tea, and recharge.

Are you looking for ways to become a peaceful mom but you aren’t sure how?

I created a free planner for moms like me, who want to create a peaceful home but let the stress of never having it all together defeat them, because who really ever has it together? The best we can do is plan for peace and roll with the punches, right? If you want your free planner you can get it below!

Tip #13: Talk it out.

Talking is a big one for families! When we’re feeling stressed, our first instinct is to bottle everything up inside. But that’s not healthy! So instead, talking openly and honestly with our loved ones about what’s going on in our lives can help reduce stress levels – and it often leads to better communication overall.

Tip #12: Exercise regularly.

This one should come as no surprise! Exercise releases endorphins. Endorphins have mood-boosting outcomes and can help lower stress levels. And you don’t need to go to the gym or spend hours at the pool to get the benefits – even a brisk 30-minute walk each day can make a difference.

Tip #11: Pay attention to your triggers.

Everyone has things that stress them out more than others. So it’s essential to be aware of your triggers and do what you can to avoid or reduce them. For example, if you know that working late makes you anxious and stressed, try to schedule all your work-related tasks for earlier in the day.

Tip #10: Take a technology break.

This one is especially relevant for parents! We’re all guilty of checking our phones constantly – even when we’re with our families. But doing this can increase stress levels. So make a point of taking regular technology breaks – put your phone away and focus on spending time with your family.

Tip #09: Delegate, delegate, delegate!

When we give jobs to our family, it takes some of the burdens off of our shoulders. Doing this will reduce your stress level as a mom and make life more enjoyable.

Tip #08: Set realistic goals.

Setting goals goes hand in hand with Tip #09. Don’t try to do it all! Setting unrealistic goals will only lead to stress and frustration. Instead, take time to slow down and figure out what you can realistically achieve, and then go from there.

Tip #07: Simplify your life.

This one is significant for busy moms! When our lives are cluttered and hectic, it’s hard to find time for anything else – including stress relief. So start by simplifying your schedule as much as possible. Cut back on unnecessary activities and obligations and focus on the necessary things.

Tip #06: Take some ‘me.’

I know, you’re thinking, I can’t take my time. I am a mom! But YES, you can! It would be best if you took “me” time for your mental health. Don’t lose yourself in being a mom. Instead, devote a moment each day to do something that you enjoy, without stress or obligations. It can be reading a book, taking a walk, watching your favorite show – anything that allows you to relax and rejuvenate.

Tip #05: Practice deep breathing exercises.

This is another great one for parents! Our breathing often becomes shallow and rapid when feeling overwhelmed and stressed out. But deep breathing exercises can help us calm down and relax. There are many different techniques – so find one that works best for you and practice it regularly.

Tip #04: Take a hot bath.

Taking a bath is a classic stress reliever and for a good reason! A hot bath can help us relax our muscles, calm our minds, and generally make us feel good. Add some soothing aromatherapy or bubbles for an extra indulgent experience.

Tip #03: Connect with nature.

Going outdoors and connecting with nature is a great way to ease stress. Take a walk in the park, go for a hike or sit outside and take in the fresh air. You’ll be surprised at how calming it can be.

Tip #02: Organize your time effectively.

This one goes hand in hand with Tip #07. When our lives are organized, and we know what we need to do each day, it’s less stressful than when everything is up in the air. So start by creating a schedule that works for you and your family. Then try to stick to it as closely as possible.

Tip #01: Get enough sleep.

Last but not least, sleep is crucial to our mental health. When we do not get enough sleep at night, our stress levels will increase. So make sure you’re getting enough rest each night – and if need be, try to cut down on stressors in your life that could be keeping you from a good night’s sleep.

These are just a few of the many ways to reduce stress in our lives. By implementing some or all of these tips, we can create a more relaxed and stress-free environment for ourselves and our families. And isn’t that what we all want? 🙂
