A few years ago, during our homeschool year, we did a fun ocean unit. The unit we used was through Gather ‘Round homeschool. Throughout the unit, I wanted to take the time to create unique memories with the kids, so I made fun ocean snacks! Some of these snacks were my own creativity and others I used Pinterest for. Regardless, here are several fun ocean snack ideas to get your child excited about the ocean!
I will say while some of these snacks are healthy, many of them implement ingredients such as icing, graham crackers, and more. You do whatever you are comfortable with for your family. There are probably many ways to adjust each snack to fit your child’s specific needs. Now, on to the snacks. Enjoy!
Ocean Snack Ideas For Kids
Goldfish Under the Sea Snack
This ocean snack was very simple to make. All you need are the following:
- Goldfish
- Crushed-up Graham crackers
- Whole Graham crackers
- Sprinkles
- Blue food dye
- White Icing
Mix the blue food dye into the white icing and spread it over the whole graham crackers. Next, decorate with sprinkles, crushed-up graham crackers, and goldfish! This one was a hit for my kiddos. I found this idea from Under the Sea Graham Crackers (thefirstyearblog.com)!
Jellyfish Cheese Tortilla
This cute jellyfish cheese quesadilla was more of a lunch than a snack. If you know how to make a cheese quesadilla, you can do this! What you need:
- Cheese
- Tortilla
- Butter
- The meat of your choice (we used ham)
- Blueberries
Prepare your cheese quesadilla in any way you like. After the quesadilla cooks, create the cute little face out of blueberries and ham. Then on to the tentacles! Isn’t he adorable?
Crab Peanut Butter Quesadilla
If you can’t tell, my kids love quesadillas. To make this cutie, here’s what you need:
- Strawberries
- Blueberries
- Pretzels
- Raisins
- Peanut butter
Simply make whatever type of quesadilla your child likes. This one is peanut butter. I added raisins for the eyes, a slice of strawberry for the mouth, and blueberries for the bubbles coming out! The pretzels and the strawberries were the legs. Almost too cute to eat!
Waffle Turtle
My kids love waffles. This fun turtle was actually for breakfast. You need:
- A waffle
- Banana
- Blueberries
Cook the waffle and then slice the banana to create the legs, tail, and head. Add sliced blueberries for the eyes and spread the blueberries around to create an ocean. Easy peasy!
Waffle Jellyfish
I apologize for the crazy picture quality. No idea what I was doing there. Here is what you need to make this fun guy:
- Half a waffle
- Banana
- Thin apple slices
- Two chocolate chips
Cook your waffle and then cut it in half. Add the thin apple slices to the bottom to look like tentacles. Then add two slices of banana for the eyes, with chocolate chips in the middle. Now, he’s all ready to be gobbled up!
Waffle Crab
As you can tell, we are big fans of waffles. Here’s what you need:
- Waffle
- Strawberries
- Banana
- Apple slices
Cook your waffle, and then add the apple slices and strawberries around to make the legs. Use the two slices of banana to make the eyes. Now he’s all done!
Easy English Muffin Fish
To make this simple English muffin fish, you only need a couple of ingredients.
- English muffin
- Cream cheese
- Yellow food dye
- Oranges
- Sprinkles
- Banana slices
- Chocolate chips
Cook your English muffin. Afterward, dye your cream cheese yellow and spread it over the English muffin. Then decorate your fish with oranges, sprinkles, bananas, and chocolate chips. Such a cute fish!
Orange and Grape Turtle
This super easy snack is great for fruit lovers. All you need are:
- Oranges
- Grapes
Lay half an orange on the plate. Slice your grapes in half and then place the halves around the orange to make it resemble a turtle. So easy and fun to eat!
