Entertaining Kids.

Sometimes as moms we feel like we need to pull together fancy crafts and preschool activities for our kids. Especially if they are young. So much pressure to make sure they are LEARNING EVERYTHING. But learning for toddlers CAN be simple and fun!

Actually, it should be! Here are fun, simple and engaging number learning activities your preschooler will LOVE!

For those of you who’d rather watch the video than read, watch my fun number activities for preschoolers video below! Don’t forget to hit subscribe 🙂

What are some fun and easy preschool activities you can pull together quickly?

  • Do-a-dot Stamping

Grab a white piece of paper. do-a-dot markers, and a pencil. Dot the outline of a few numbers on the white paper. Then have your child “dot those dots” to form a number! Easy Peasy.

  • Felt Number Lap book

Felt, numbers, and velcro dots. It’s that simple to make a felt number lap book!

Cut the numbers out and place one velcro dot on the back and another on the felt. The numbers should stick to the felt. Your preschooler will love pulling the numbers on and off!

  • Pipe Cleaner and Bead Threading

Pipe cleaners and beads and white paper. That’s all you need! Cut small strips of white paper, write a number on the paper and then glue it to the pipe cleaner. Show your child how to thread the correct number of beads onto each pipe cleaner.

  • Sensory Bin Number Find

Fill a sensory bin with a fun material such as rice. (For some ideas visit my list of fun sensory bins for kids!) Hide number in the rice. These numbers can be wooden cutouts like the ones used in my video. (Dollar Tree Mommas!)

Or just write the numbers 1-9 on white paper and hide the paper in the rice.

You can do this two different ways. Simply have your child pull the number out of the sensory bin and tell you the number.

Or you can set aside a plate of sprinkles, salt, etc. and have your child practice tracing the number after he/she pulls it out!

  • Bead Tracing

Grab white index cards and write one number, 1-10, on each index card. Use colorful beads (also found these at the Dollar Tree) to “trace” the numbers.

This is a fun and engaging twist to tracing a number.

Does introducing numbers to toddlers have to be complicated?

The answer is no! Kids yearn for fun and simple activities. We tend to over-complicate learning.

When we do that, kids can get burnt out and drag their feet when it comes to learning.

Tips for introducing numbers.

  • Make it fun!

The more fun the activity appears to a child the more appealing it becomes.

  • Make it simple!

Simplicity is key mommas. You don’t need to do fancy.

  • Switch it up!

Put several preschool activities in your momma arsenal. Ones you know your child loves and is simple. Switch it up when your kids start becoming bored with a certain activity.

What are some more preschool activities?

Kids love hands-on activities, here are some fun ones my girls love!

Do you want craft ideas? Or are you looking for activities to do as a family?

Preschool learning should and can be simple.

These young years should be engaging, fun and free for our kids. Learning comes naturally when a child is given the freedom and space to learn at their own pace.

Our job as mommas is to provide simple opportunities and activities that can help our children learn the way they learn best.

What preschool activities do you love to do with your kids?
