How are you today! The challenge is almost complete, and I hope you have received much encouragement over these last two weeks!
Welcome to day 12 of the 14 Days of Peaceful Parenting Challenge! Today’s challenge is to “practice the pause.” This means taking a moment to yourself when you feel like you’re about to lose your temper. When your child is melting down, and you’re tempted to yell, take a pause. Count to ten. Or repeat a mantra. This will help you stay calm and in control, ultimately leading to a more peaceful home environment for you and your children!
Why practicing the pause is important for creating a peaceful home life:
When you’re able to take a step back and practice some self-control, it will prevent you from saying or doing something that you may regret later. It’s also important for your child to see that you can handle difficult situations calmly and rationally. This will help them learn how to do the same in tough times.
Today’s challenge:
The goal today is to practice the pause as often as possible. When your child is being disobedient, melting down, or just giving you a hard time, take a step back and calm yourself before reacting. It may be difficult at first, but it will become easier with practice! I hope you have a great day!
Talk soon!
