Paper plate crafts are our favorite type of crafts to do! Especially when my kids were little. I couldn’t keep up with their creative spirits, so I tried to give them as many outlets as possible. I know that there are so many people who say to focus your kids’ crafting skills on something more sustainable. That is a great idea. However, we all know kids cannot resist some paint, a blank canvas, and a handful of crafting supplies! It’s entirely possible to give them the best of both worlds. Now, if you are looking for a cute dinosaur paper plate craft to do with your little one, look no further; here is a fun one!
We made a few different colored dinosaurs with this craft, but the concept is the same. Feel free to let your child improvise and keep the craft open-ended. Grab some stickers, sequins, glitter, or whatever you have on hand. Let your child have fun customizing their dinosaurs to fit their personality!
How to Make This Dinosaur Paper Plate Craft
You need a handful of materials to make this dinosaur paper plate craft. I buy most of my crafting materials at the Dollar Tree. You can also see what you have on hand and improvise.
Materials
- Paint any color(s) your child wants their dinosaur!
- Paint brushes
- Paper plates, regular paper plates, and not foam work best for this project.
- Clothes pins
- Construction paper
- Googly eyes
- Glue
Instructions
- The first step to making these adorable dinosaurs is to cut the paper plates in half.
- Then paint the bottom of the paper plate, and two clothes pins, whatever color you want.
- Allow the plate to dry.
- While the plate is drying, cut out the dinosaur head, tail, and spikes.
- Once the paper plate is dry, glue the head, tails, and spikes onto your dinosaur.
- Next, glue one googly eye to the dino.
- Lastly, place the two clothes pins on the bottom of the paper plate to be their feet.
That’s it! It’s super easy and relatively quick to make. Have fun designing the dinos however you and your kids want.

Are you new to The Peaceful Nest Blog?
The Peaceful Nest Blog was started in 2017 as a healing journey for me. I began writing just as a way to cope with the grief I was feeling at the time. It turned into something I never could have imagined. While this blog has had its ups and downs, it has always been a great source of comfort for many families trying to navigate parenthood. Here, you can find various tips on homemaking, homeschooling, parenting, and marriage.
A few years after the start of my blog, it took off with a post I wrote one night because I was feeling in the trenches of motherhood. I didn’t expect the post to go anywhere; it was just a way to hold myself accountable. Yet, here we are, and that specific post is what brings this blog the most traffic.
